Monthly Educational Meeting – Nigel Rudolf // Florida Public Archaeology Network, Heritage Monitoring Scout training
July 16, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Friends of the Chassahowitzka River invites the public to our monthly educational meeting July 16th, Tuesday, 7 pm. Our meeting’ program will host Nigel Rudolf
Heritage Monitoring Scouts (HMS Florida) is a public engagement program focused on tracking changes to archaeological sites at risk, particularly those impacted by climate change in the form of erosion and sea level rise. Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) staff for this information session to learn how to become a heritage monitoring scout. We will talk about threats to archaeological sites, how to identify some common site types and artifacts, and the best way to record and monitor them. Following this introductory session, FPAN will organize a number of scout meetups to visit sites so that you can get involved and protect archaeological sites near you! Though this event is open to all ages, the discussion will be directed more towards young adults and adults.
Friends meetings are at the Chassahowitzka Community Center, 10300 S Riviera Dr, Homosassa FL 34448
