Friends Monthly Educational Meeting

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Robert Bonde about one of our local wildlife favorites, the Manatee.
Dr. Bonde has a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medical Sciences from University of Florida, and has dedicated over 40 years of his career to studying manatees worldwide, including in the United States, Belize, Cuba, South America, and Africa. He is a retired research biologist from the U.S. Geological Survey, Sirenia Project. Throughout his career, Dr. Bonde has played a pivotal role in the conservation of manatees through stranding investigations, population monitoring, and longitudinal assessment of manatee health. Dr. Bonde has also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida, and has served on more than 30 graduate student committees. Dr. Bonde has over 100 scientific publications and has coauthored with Dr. Roger Reep a book titled ‘The Florida Manatee: Biology and Conservation’.

We hope you can join us and learn some interesting facts about Manatees!!! There will be free snacks and educational literature to take home! Bring the family!
The Friends of the Chassahowitzka River is a grassroots group dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Chassahowitzka River, its springs, springshed, and flora and fauna. Our focus is on the conservation of the natural beauty and ecological health of the Chassahowitzka River! This includes litter cleanups, native ecosystem restoration, and river restoration projects! Please join us in our grassroots endeavors!
Friends meetings are at the Chassahowitzka Community Center, 10300 S Riviera Dr, Homosassa FL 34448.
