The Friends of Chassahowitzka River is a nonprofit organization made up of passionate members who care about preserving this natural resource. Our goals include spring restoration, facilitating invasive lyngbya removal and native plant restoration on the Chassahowitzka River in Citrus County Florida. The group consists of local paddling enthusiasts, fishermen and women, wildlife enthusiasts, spring lovers, as well as local members of the community that share a love for the river we affectionately call The Chaz or Chass (depending on who you ask!).
We have monthly educational presentations (3rd Tuesday of the month at the Chassahowitzka Community Center) by professionals on a broad variety of topics that relate to the river, as well as other events. We are currently working on a project to restore the area known as Little Sister Spring via muck removal and native plantings. We appreciate your support. If you’d like to make a donation to support our efforts, you can do so securely via the PayPal button.
